Maiyisha Rashad was born in The U.S. in 1976 to Ahmad Rashad and his second wife, Matilda Johnson. She is the youngest of the family’s five children. Maiyisha is not active on social sites and hasn’t posted any pictures of herself and her husband. Furthermore, she hasn’t disclosed information about her education, interests, or profession.

Maiyisha’s Father, Professional Football Player, and Sportscaster Ahmad Rashad

Portland, Oregon-based Ahmad Rashad was born on November 19, 1949, as Robert Earl Moore, Jr. He played football for the Mount Tahoma High School team and The University of Oregon team. He was called Bobby Moore until 1973 when he changed his name following his conversion to Islam. His new legal name means “admirable one led to truth” in Arabic.

He became a professional American football player when he was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1972, where he spent two seasons as a wide receiver. He later played for the Buffalo Bills and the Seattle Seahawks, but it was with the Minnesota Vikings that he earned four Pro Bowl selections.

After he retired from professional football, Ahmad followed the spotlight into the world of television. The highlight of what was to become his second career was hosting NBA’s weekly shows NBA Inside Stuff (1990-2004) and NBA Access with Ahmad Rashad (2005-2011).

His favorite celebrity to interview was his close friend, Michael Jordan.

Six Children, Five Marriages, Four Divorces

Rashad’s first child, Geoffrey Simmons, was born out of wedlock and then given to adoption. The two reunited when Geoffrey turned 18.

Deidre Waters was Ahmad’s first wife. They married in 1969 and had a daughter, Keva, the following year.

His second child out of wedlock, by the name of Sean, was born in 1970.

In 1976 he divorced his first wife and married Maiyisha’s mother, Matilda Johnson. The couple’s second child, Ahmad Jr., was born in 1978, one year before they got divorced.

The Cosby Show actress Phylicia Ayers-Allen became Rashad’s third wife in 1985. She already had a son, Billy Bowles, when she gave birth to Condola Phylea Rashad in 1986. This marriage lasted sixteen years, until 2001.

Six years later, Ahmad married Sale Johnson, who already had three daughters – Casey (who died in 2010 and whose daughter, Ava-Monroe Johnson, was adopted by the couple), Jamie, and Daisy. Their marriage ended in divorce in 2013.

The former professional football player married psychologist Ana Luz Rodriguez-Paz in 2016.

Maiyisha’s Mother, Matilda Johnson

It appears that Maiyisha takes after her mother when it comes to privacy. Matilda Johnson is Ahmad Rashad’s second wife. They had a three-year-long marriage. Matilda is not visible on social sites, and she did not make public any information about herself, like occupation, marital status, or residence.

‘Maisha’ in Arabic

The alternative Maisha, similar to Maiyisha’s, means “alive and well” or “prosperous” in Arabic, and it is a widely spread Muslim name. It comes from the Arabic Aisha, which was the name of prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) third wife.
