Let’s assume for a second that you didn’t watch the Sex and The City series (1998-2004) while it was running. Let’s extend the assumption and imagine you didn’t watch the films either. Still, you most definitely heard of the resounding silver screen success that Carrie Bradshaw and her friends had in the late 1990s and early 2000s. That’s Sarah for you! And this is her mother.

Barbra Forste

She was born Barbra Keck on July 2nd, 1938, in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. She is of German and English descent. Her father, Walter Edward Keck, passed away when she was 22. Her mother was Lillian “Dolly” Britten, and she died in 1995.

Barbra was a teacher, and she ran a nursery school. She married Stephen Parker, a journalist from an Eastern European Jewish family. They had four children whose names are Pippin Parker (1960), Timothy Britten Parker (1962), Sarah Jessica Parker (1965), and Rachel Parker (1967).

Her second husband is Paul G Forste. The couple has four children, Aaron D. Forste (1978), Andrew Forste (1980), Megan Forste (1982), and Allegra Forste (1984).

Barbra’s Award-Winning Daughter

Sarah Jessica Parker was born on March 25th, 1965, in Nelsonville, Ohio, United States. She studied singing and ballet in her early years until she directed her attention to acting. She became a critically-acclaimed theatre, TV, and film actress. She played Annie in the Broadway musical and also landed a few TV roles.

Upon graduation from Dwight Morrow High School, Sarah had to choose between her studies and her passion for acting. The latter won. The actress appeared in several movies during the next years: Footloose (1994), Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1995), L.A. Story (1991), The Sunshine Boys (1996), and others. Her career in theatre was also booming, with roles in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” and “Once Upon a Mattress”, which brought her a Tony-Award nomination.

SJP and Carrie Bradshaw

Most people couldn’t tell the difference between the two. It seemed that Carrie had been written for Sarah, or that Sarah had been made for playing Carrie. Either way, the show had tremendous success. Carrie won Sarah a Golden Globe for Best Actress in 2000, and four years later, the former ballet dancer received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. The Hollywood Foreign Press nominated her for eight consecutive years for the Golden Globes.

SJP married actor Matthew Broderick in 1997. They have three children, a son James (2002), and twin daughters Marion and Tabitha (2009, born through surrogate).

Sarah Jessica Parker is part of Hollywood’s Women’s Political Committee and the New York Ballet’s Board of Directors. Also, she is a representative of UNICEF for the Performing Arts.

Barbra Forste’s Other Children in Showbiz

Timothy Britten Parker is an actor with roles in Quiz Show (1994), Law & Order (1990), and Limitless (2015). Siblings Aaron D., Megan and Allegra Forste, Sarah’s half-brothers, respectively half-sisters, work in cinematography behind the cameras.
