Robert Meloni Jr. is the older brother of prominent American actor Christopher Meloni. Robert is known due to the massive popularity of his brother, who appeared in several hit films and TV series. Christopher is recognized for playing NYPD Detective Elliot Stabler in 12 seasons of legal drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and its second part  Law & Order: Organized Crime, broadcast on NBC. He also appeared as inmate Chris Keller on the HBO prison drama Oz. 

As a lead actor, he portrayed vampire Roman in the fifth season of the horror drama television series True Blood starting in June 2012 on HBO. He starred in the Syfy series Happy! from 2017 to 2019. He was also the executive producer of the film. His other notable film works are: Wet Hot American Summer, Man of Steel, Fear, and Loathing in Las VegasHarold & Kumar Go to White Castle, 12 Monkeys, and Runaway Bride, 42.

Robert’s brother Christopher was born on April 2 1961 in Washington, D.C. to Charles Robert Meloni, an endocrinologist, and Cecile, a homemaker. Robert also has a sister. Robert is of French Canadian descent from his mother’s side and is of Italian descent from his father’s side. He is also a descendant of  Matthias Farnsworth. Christopher studied at St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School in Alexandria, Virginia. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where studied acting and received a graduate degree in history in 1983. In New York, he studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre and Center for the Media Arts.

Initially, for a brief period, Christopher worked as a construction worker,  bouncer, bartender, and personal trainer during his struggle in his acting career. He appeared in commercials, and TV series, and did small parts in a couple of films. His first major film was Bound in which he acted as the son of a Mafia don 1996. From 1991 to 1994 he played the role of Spike in the sitcom TV series Dinosaurs. During 1996-1997 he appeared in eight episodes of NYPD Blue as Jimmy Liery. He also acted in the romantic comedy Runaway Bride in 1999, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Green Lantern: First Flight, and Comedy Central series Michael & Michael Have Issues.

He was nominated for Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Elliot Stabler in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2006.

Robert’s brother Christopher owns a net worth of $30 million as of 2022. At the peak of his career, he earned an annual salary of $395,000 per episode, which amounts to $10 million per season. He donated $50,000 to various charities which he won as a cash prize during an episode of Celebrity Jeopardy! He donated another $250,000 that he won in 2009.

The actor bought the house which was used for the shooting of the television show The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet in 2014. 61 years old actor has been involved in advocating the rights of the LGBT community. He received Human Rights Campaign’s Equality Award in 2006.
