Marquez Anthony Caruso is the son of an American actor and producer, David Caruso, and his wife Liza Marquez. His appearance as Detective John Kelly on the ABC crime drama NYPD Blue (1993–94) and as Lieutenant Horatio Caine in the CBS series CSI: Miami from 2002 to 2012 are among his best work which is what is known for. Other noteworthy appearances of him include An Officer and a Gentleman, First Blood (1982), Twins (1988), Kiss of Death (1995), and Proof of Life (2000). David won a Golden Globe Award and a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for NYPD Blue in 1994. For his role as Dino in the film Proof of Life, he was nominated for the Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Favorite Supporting Actor – Suspense in 2001.

Marquez’s made his entry into the entertainment industry as a cinema usher. His job required watching 80 movies a week. During that time he got influenced by James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart, and Edward G. Robinson. He made his film debut as Danny in the1980 film Getting Wasted. He gained attention for appearing as Topper Daniels in the 1982 film An Officer and a Gentleman. In the 1980s, he played supporting roles in several movies including First Blood (1982), Blue City (1986), China Girl (1987), and Twins (1988).

In a recurring role from 1981 to 1983, he appeared in seven episodes of the NBC police drama series Hill Street Blues as the leader of the street gang Tommy Mann. In the television series The First Olympics: Athens 1896, he played the role of U.S. Olympian James Brendan Connolly. His TV appearance also included two episodes of the series Crime Story. He appeared in a 1986 Music video of the song “Voyage, voyage” by french singer Desireless.
