Kelly Marie Kristofferson is known as the daughter of an American singer, songwriter, and actor Kristoffer Kristofferson, and Lisa  Kristofferson (Meyers), a hairstylist. He is best known for performing under the country music supergroup The Highwaymen, which he formed with fellow country artists Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash in 1985. The group emerged as a movement to promote outlaw country music across the U.S. Honoring his contribution to music his name was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2004. The hit songs written by him are “Me and Bobby McGee”, “For the Good Times”, “Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down”, and “Help Me Make It Through the Night”.

Kris’s father Lars Henry Kristofferson was a major general in the U.S. Air Force. Kelly’s father started his career as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army due to pressure from family. He left the Army as a Captain in 1965 to pursue his career in music. He did odd jobs during his struggle. He worked as a floor sweeper at Columbia Recording Studios in Nashville, and a helicopter pilot, before finally entering the music industry. Johnny Cash helped Kris to record the song “Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down”, written by him, for which he won Songwriter of the Year for the song at the Country Music Association Awards in 1970. His acting credit include Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid (1973), Blume in Love (1973), Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (1974), Convoy (1978), Heaven’s Gate (1980), Lone Star (1996), Stagecoach (1986), and the Blade film trilogy (1998–2004).
