Mandrell saw the zenith of her success soon when she released several singles in the 1970s &80s. With the fusion of country and R&B soul, her singles peaked in the charts as never before. Tonight My Baby’s Coming Home (1971) and The Midnight Oil were among the best of hers. After recovering from a car accident, which almost finished her career, she returned to recording in 1985 and gave several top ten singles. Fast Lanes and Country Roads (1985), No One Mends a Broken Heart Like You (1986), and I Wish I Could Fall in Love Today (1988) were among her stop creations of the decade. She was quite active till the early 1990s as she released several albums including No Nonsense¬† in 1991. She made several TV appearances in the sitcom Empty Nest and Burning Rage during the 1980s and 1990s.
