Nathaniel Mandrell Dudney is the son of legendary country music singer and musician, Barbara Mandrell and her husband producer and Navy Pilot, Ken Dudney. Born on 25 December 1948 in a musical family in Houston, Texas, Nathaniel’s mother Barbara Ann Mandrell spent her childhood mostly in California. She played various musical instruments when was a teenager as she started performing at the age of 13. Nathaniel’s father Ken Dudney was born on July 23, 1941, in Franklin, Tennessee, USA. Dudney produced several feature films including Barbara Mandrell: The Lady Is a Champ (1983), Barbara Mandrell: Something Special (1985), and Barbara Mandrell’s Christmas: A Family Reunion (1986). Nathaniel’s parents married on May 28, 1967. Nathaniel has an older brother Kenneth Matthew Dudney and an older sister Jaime Dudney, who is an actress.

Nathaniel’s mother started appearing on the TV show Town Hall Party when she was just a teenager. She signed her first contract with Columbia Records in 1969. Mandrell saw the zenith of her success soon when she released several singles in the 1970s &80s. With the fusion of country and R&B soul, her singles peaked in the charts as never before. Tonight My Baby’s Coming Home (1971) and The Midnight Oil were among the best of hers. After recovering from a car accident, which almost finished her career, she returned to recording in 1985 and gave several top ten singles. Fast Lanes and Country Roads (1985), No One Mends a Broken Heart Like You (1986), and I Wish I Could Fall in Love Today (1988) were among her stop creations of the decade. She was quite active till the early 1990s as she released several albums including No Nonsense  in 1991. She made several TV appearances in the sitcom Empty Nest and Burning Rage during the 1980s and 1990s.
