Beluga, a renowned Russian vodka company, is set to release a new and exceptionally high-end vodka called ‘The Epicure’ in 2017. With a price tag of approximately $6,600 per bottle, it will be among the ranks of the world’s seven most expensive vodkas.
A Fusion of Craftsmanship and Luxury
The unveiling of ‘The Epicure’ took place in Russia at a private dinner held at the Residence of France, followed by a presentation at the Cosmoscow International Contemporary Art Fair. The first decanter was auctioned off on September 9th, fetching a staggering €11,000 at the Off White charity auction. The proceeds from this sale were donated to the Naked Heart Foundation, a charitable organization that supports children with disabilities across Russia.
The Artistry of Lalique Crystal
What sets ‘The Epicure’ apart from other vodkas is its collaboration between Beluga and the esteemed French crystal master, Lalique. Lalique, renowned for its handcrafted crystal decanters, created custom decanters for this exclusive vodka at its workshops in Alsace, France. Each decanter undergoes meticulous polishing by a master polisher, who expertly enhances the contrast between the clear and satin-finished crystal. Notably, every decanter carries a unique serial number engraved at the bottom.
Exquisite Craftsmanship and Limited Availability
Only 1,000 decanters of ‘The Epicure’ will be produced, with 999 decanters available for purchase following the auction of the first one. Lalique’s favorite themes of the female, flora, and fauna are elegantly incorporated into the decanter design, collectively referred to as the ‘Three Fs.’ Each decanter is meticulously crafted by hand, showcasing the artistry and attention to detail that Lalique is renowned for.
The Journey to Siberia
After the decanters are completed, they are transported to Siberia, destined for the Mariinsk Distillery, where Beluga vodka is meticulously produced. The distillery sources its water from wells that delve deep into the Siberian bedrock, ensuring the utmost purity. ‘The Epicure’ vodka is exclusively crafted using malted wheat, delicately flavored with hints of vanilla and honey, and undergoes a resting period of 100 days. This meticulous process results in a vodka of unparalleled quality and taste.
