Dominique Gioia Scaggs is the second wife of an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Boz Scaggs. Dominique’s husband Boz garnered popularity for his 1976 album Silk Degrees, which climbed to number 2 on the Billboard 200. Hit songs like “Lido Shuffle” and “Lowdown” took his popularity to new heights. He performed with Steve Miller for the musical band The Ardells and the Steve Miller Band, before starting his solo career in 1969.

He is credited for two more platinum-certified albums Down Two Then Left and Middle Man. Middle Man’s singles “Breakdown Dead Ahead” and “Jojo” ranked in the top-40 singles. In 1988 he joined The New York Rock and Soul Revue and nightclub Slim’s in San Francisco, where he continued to play until it was closed in  2020.

Having a career spanning over 7 decades, the veteran singer resealed his most recent album Out of the Blues in 2018.

Dominique’s husband was born William Royce Scaggs on  June 8, 1944, in Canton, Ohio. Since Boz’s father was a traveling salesman, Boz’s family moved around McAlester, Oklahoma, Plano, Texas, and north of Dallas. He studied at St. Mark’s School of Texas. Dominique is married to Boz since  1992. Boz had two sons from his first wife Donna Carmella Storniola, whom he married in 1973. His older son Austin is a music journalist for Rolling Ston and his younger son Oscar died due to a heroin overdose in 1998. They divorced in 1980.

Boz started playing guitar at the age of 12. In 1959 he joined Steve Miller’s band as a vocalist, who was his classmate at St. Mark’s School. While studying together at the University of Wisconsin–Madison they played in the band Ardells and the Fabulous Knight Trains.

Dominique Gioia Scaggs’s Career 

Dominique’s husband played for the burgeoning R&B scene in London, toured Sweden, and performed with the band the Other Side with Mac MacLeod and Jack Downing, before releasing his solo debut album, “Boz” in 1965. Soon after returning to U.S. Boz rejoined Steve Miller, appearing in his Band’s first two albums, Children of the Future and Sailor in 1968. The same year, he sighed a contract with Atlantic Records and released his second album, “Boz Scaggs” in 1969. The album featuring Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and session guitarist Duane Allman achieved moderate success. Then he appeared in a supporting role on guitar and backup vocales in Bay Area band Mother Earth’s second album Make a Joyful Noise.

Boz first hit the limelight when he released “Silk Degrees” with Joe Wissert in 1976, which peaked the #2 on the US Billboard 200, winning a nomination for Grammy and Wissert as Producer of The Year. The album had 4 hit singles: “It’s Over”, “Lowdown”, “What Can I Say”, “Lido Shuffle”, and “We’re All Alone”.
